Country Inn & Suites is a global chain of standard business hotels; the general idea is that you know exactly what to expect, and that is pretty much what you get. It isn’t a hotel chain for the well-heeled; rather, I expect that travelling salespeople might stay here. Perfectly functional, unassuming, unglamorous yet comfortable and with all the amenities you might expect.
That was certainly what I found when I stayed there. In a decent part of central Ahmedabad – the hotel is helpfully situated next door to a hospital – it was unassuming yet clean, relatively quiet and with a comfortable bed, a television, a good bathroom and a high standard of cleanliness. But charming and of-its-place, it is not.
There are three in-house restaurants, as well as a fitness centre, decent wifi, and a small spa. Rooms are large, with very comfortable beds, large windows with a lot of natural light streaming through, and in-room tea and coffee facilities. The shower has good pressure, although the bathrooms tend towards the small side. I did have a problem when room service brought me the wrong dish, and separately when housekeeping delivered me a dirty bathrobe, but the hotel made up for this by effusively offering me an apology cake. Overall, it is a good, solid reliable option to escape the bustle and noise of central Ahmedabad.
